Erase Everything

By the Silock TeamUpdated

The short answer

Erase Everything removes every silo and everything in it from your iPhone, after you confirm your unlock. You can also have Silock erase itself after 20 wrong unlock attempts in a row.

Sometimes you need everything gone: before selling a phone, after a scare, or simply to start over.

Erase on demand

Go to Settings → Erase Everything. Silock asks for your unlock first, so someone holding your unlocked iPhone can’t do it, then asks you to confirm.

The keys are destroyed first, which makes every file unreadable at once. Then the files, settings and Silock’s saved data are removed. Silock returns to its first-launch screen.

Erase after too many wrong tries

You can turn on Erase after too many wrong tries in Settings. If someone, including you, enters the wrong Silock unlock 20 times in a row, every silo on the iPhone is erased.

Even with it off, wrong guesses make Silock wait longer and longer between attempts, and the count survives restarting the app.

Your backup is kept

Erasing doesn’t touch your iCloud backup. Set Silock up again, enter your recovery phrase, and your silos come back.

Questions people ask

Can someone else use Erase Everything on my phone?

Only if they know your Silock unlock. Silock asks for it before erasing, and then asks once more.

Does it delete my iCloud backup?

No. The backup stays in iCloud, so your recovery phrase can bring everything back. You can delete the backup separately in Settings.

Does a wrong silo password count toward erasing?

No. Only wrong attempts at Silock's own unlock count. A silo's own password never triggers an erase, so it can't wipe your other silos.
